- 182nd Fighter Squadron
The 182nd FS is the group's flying component and has operated the F-16A ADF since May 1986. The squadron was established as the 182nd Fighter Squadron in October 1947 at Brooks AFB with P-51Ds. the unit was redesignated 182nd Fighter-Bomber Squadron in October 1950 when it was mobilized with F-84Es prior to deploying to the Far East. The unit returned to state control in July 1952 with the F-51H. The 182nd moved to Kelly AFB in August 1956, re-equipping with F-80Cs and being redesignated the 182nd FIS in January 1957. The squadron converted to the F-86D at the end of 1957 and to the F-86L subsequently, before re-equipping with the F-102A in July 1960. The unit's designation changed to the 182nd TFS with F-84Fs assigned from September 1969 until April 1971, when the F-100D was delivered. F-4Cs were operated from early 1979 until they were replaced by F-16A.
